Re: How to raise money smart kids in just 5 minutes a month
Dear parent,
We have never met, but if you found this page then I know two things about you are true:
The great part is that you are actually doing something about it by searching the internet for answers. This is more effort than most parents put forth. In fact, most parents aren’t teaching their kids anything about how money works in the “real world.”
I was shocked when I recently read these startling stats:
How could this happen? Another group of statistics gives insight…
If anything, the schools have “sold out” to corporate sponsors. Everyday, America’s school children are bombarded with advertisements in the hallways, classrooms, lunchrooms and even the bathrooms of their schools. Instead of teaching our kids how to save and invest for the future, the schools are subconsciously enticing them to spend, spend, spend.
It’s easy to get angry at the schools about this, but it’s not their fault. The pitifully underfunded schools are doing whatever is necessary to keep enough teachers in the classroom. If we want our kids to be financially prepared when they leave home, then it’s up to us to teach them how.
This is something I hear pretty often and I can completely relate. Let me tell you my story:
In 1998 my wife and I found ourselves over $90,000 in debt and at our wits end. We started studying extensively about money, banking, economics, personal finance, business, and investing. By putting what we learned to use, not only did we become debt free but accumulated a net worth of $2.5 Million, in just five years. The reason: We changed how we thought about money and how we managed our money.
Although we live a very enjoyable lifestyle now, my biggest regret is that I did not learn this when I was a kid -- not from my parents, in high school or even in college. If I had, I really believe my life would have been better. Without the financial pressure we experienced, I would have been able to spend more time with my kids when they were younger, had less arguments and stress over money, and had more freedom to relax, travel and do fun things with my family.
I knew that I wanted better for my kids so I searched for a program to teach them about money. I couldn’t find a program that integrated the key elements that I felt were important, so I committed to create a financial success program for my own kids to learn from.
Since starting on the program my kids have accumulated over $9,000 in savings, invested in businesses and the stock market, and are destined to be wealthy and financially successful.
In 2002 I founded a company called KidsWealth to share this program with parents and kids across the world. After several years of testing by over 1,000 families, the program I taught my kids is now available for sale as the KidsWealth Money Kit.
Since July of 2006 thousands of moms, dads, and grandparents have purchased my award-winning program and are teaching the kids they love about money and success the KidsWealth Way!
The KidsWealth Money Kit is a simple, fun way to teach kids ages 4-12 a critical life skill: how to successfully manage money.
This unique, tested, and proven program uses a practical hands-on approach to teach kids to manage real money in a safe, structured, and supported manner. Kids learn the value of money, how to build smart money habits, and develop a mindset for personal and financial success that will last them a lifetime.
Incorporating powerful psychology and advanced learning methods, the award-winning KidsWealth Money Kit makes it easy for parents to open positive, healthy discussions about money.

No Hassle, No Risk Satisfaction Guarantee: The KidsWealth program is 100% guaranteed. If you don’t see drastic changes in your kids within the first 30 days of use, we’ll simply give you a 100% refund!
Just imagine teaching your kids to ride a bike by giving them a book with some explanations and theories on engineering, propulsion, balance and energy. Do you think your kids would ever want to ride a bike? Furthermore, imagine expecting them to learn how to ride a bike successfully without ever giving them a bike. Would they have much success?
The KidsWealth Money Kit is like “training wheels” for money. For your kids to be successful with managing and handling money, they need REAL money, they need a structure and system, they need direction, and they need to manage it themselves.
This is why, as part of the KidsWealth program, your kids will have their own money each month and they get to decide when and how to spend their money. This provides a safe training ground and real experience for your kids to manage and handle their own money. When it’s your money it’s one thing, when it’s their own, everything changes.
This award-winning money and wealth-building program combines the best of financial training and personal development. The KidsWealth Program uses positive, affirming language like “Wealth, Plan, Learn, Fun, and Angel” and whose structure powerfully reinforces strong character development.
The KidsWealth Program involves parents paying their kids a monthly salary – called a Kid’s Pay. This is NOT an allowance. Your child’s Kid’s Pay is directly based upon your family income and lifestyle. So Step 1 in our program has parents evaluate how much they spend on their kids (wants vs. needs) and take a percentage and pay it to them ONCE a month as their Kid’s Pay on a selected payday.
Step 2: Determine The Amounts For Each Of The 5 Accounts
Step 3: Set Up The KidsWealth Money Kit:
The KidsWealth Money Kit contains everything you need – including a Parents Guide that helps you figure out an appropriate Kid’s Pay amount, the amount for each account, and tips on how to introduce money to your kids. The Kid's Guide also helps kids understand each account and how the money should be used.
There is a Kid's Pay Agreement which is to be signed by both parents and kids, detailing the amount of your child’s Kid’s Pay, the date each month and how the money is to be managed. Kids can hang this on the wall or keep it in their kits.
Included in the Money Kit is a “Kal and Pal” Calendar and a set of Kid’s Pay stickers which your child uses to mark each payday for every month, so they know when they will be paid.
Included in the Money Kit, are the 5 Account Wallets (WEALTH, PLAN, LEARN, FUN and ANGEL). Your child simply marks their name on the Money Kit Case and Account Wallets and everything is kept together in the Kit Case for safety and convenience. All accounts are color coded for ease of use, especially for younger kids.
Also included in the Money Kit is a calculator, 5 pencils and "Kal & Pals" decorative stickers.
Once set up is complete, simply pay your kid’s their first Kid’s Pay in cash and start the program. It’s that simple! The program is designed to simply blend into your everyday life. For example, if you are heading out to the store, you simply tell your kids to bring their FUN wallets, or if to a bank, their WEALTH wallet if they have a deposit to be made. If to church, they take their Angel wallets, etc…

“…Awesome!”
"One day after their first payday, my kids and I were in a drug store. Daniel immediately went to the toy aisle and found something for $19.99. He came to me and asked, “Can I get this?” I asked him, “Sure. How much money do you have in your FUN account?” He didn’t even answer, but by the frown on his face, I knew he realized he did not have enough money. Before KidsWealth, Danny would have started pleading and begging for me to buy the toy and making a scene. I was so surprised when all he did after realizing he couldn’t afford the toy, was go and put it back and begin looking for something he could afford. How great was this for me?!! It was awesome! I didn’t have to deal with a complaining child and he wound up happy in the end anyway being able to purchase something he chose."- Lisa Hennessy; Lutz, Florida
“I Nearly Fell Out of the Car!”
“I take my son to a pizza/arcade for lunch on Fridays. Before KidsWealth, I gave him $2 for games before lunch and $2 after lunch (or he wouldn't eat.) This time, I told him games had to come out of his FUN account. He very matter-of-factly said he would just watch the other kids play games because he would rather spend his fun money on other things. I nearly fell out of the car!”- Stacie Schaible; Anchor, News Channel 8 - Tampa, Florida
“The Change In Attitude Has Been Phenomenal”
"We started using the KidsWealth Program three months ago with our 10 and 11-year-old. The change in attitude has been phenomenal; they have gone from “I want” to thoughtful planning and responsible purchasing! We have been amazed by their generosity & intrigued by their priorities. Being responsible for their own financial choices through the KidsWealth program has given our children a greater confidence in their own decision making. Thanks KidsWealth!"
- Christine & Jonathan Hopegood
“Thanks KidsWealth!”
"The colors, wording and characters made it fun and interesting for my child. The content and the program are structured very well for children. I believe KidsWealth is a great program. It is the only one that I have seen that teaches our children this very important fact of life beginning at such young ages.I truly believe KidsWealth is a fantastic program. So many of us were not taught how to manage our money. Most of us had to learn from the School of Hard Knocks. I believe it is very important to teach this to our children for them to be financial responsible and successful in life. Thanks KidsWealth!"
- Kimberly; Ruskin, Florida
“So Simple, Anyone Can Do It”
"The KidsWealth Money Kit is very kid-friendly and fun. Our experience has been amazing. It is surprising to see how quickly my 3 year-old grasped the concepts. We are very excited as to what the future will hold for both of our kids. The KidsWealth Program is so simple, anyone can do it."
- Michelle; Lake Ridge, Virginia
“Our Daughter Was Struggling With Math…”
"We had introduced the KidsWealth program to our two children 5 months ago. Our 11-year-old daughter was struggling with math. Recently she came to us with the idea that she wanted to use money from her LEARN account to pay for an online math tutoring service.”
- Erin
"I never had any money before I started with the KidsWealth Money Kit. I would spend every dollar I got, right when I got it. Now I am saving money for my future, saving for my own computer, buying my own books from the Scholastic Book Fair flyers I bring home from school, paying for my own video games and movie tickets, and donating money to those in greater need than me. I really like the program and I plan to stick with it for as long as I can."
- Michael, 10 yrs
"I think that all kids should have the KidsWealth Money Kit. It is the coolest program. Best of all, I get to decide what to do with my money from each of my accounts. When I grow up, I will be a millionaire because I will know how to make my money work for me!"
- Ryan, 9 yrs.
"The KidsWealth program is great! You get to be in charge of your own money. You can learn from your mistakes before you become an adult so you won’t make big mistakes."
- Lucas, 11 yrs.
"The KidsWealth Money Kit is awesome. I like knowing my parents trust me with money. I'm glad I'm learning to manage my money!"
- Meag, 9 yrs.
"KidsWealth is the best thing I’ve ever done because I’m happy and my parents are happy too."
- Emma, 10 yrs.

I noticed that the Money Kit is designed for ages 4-12. Why so young?
The younger your kids, the easier it will be for them to listen and accept what you are teaching. The key is to capture this opportunity before peer pressure starts to compete with you! Research has shown that you can start to teach your kids about money as young as four years old and should most definitely be started by age 12. Teenagers are a much harder group to teach as their friends become more influential and their quest for independence from you begins.
I understand that in order to really learn about money that my kids need real money. But where do they get the money? From doing chores?
If you are like most parents and are paying your kids a traditional allowance, here are two reasons why this will not work:
The allowance amount is too small and represents their spending money only, and if a savings program is attached, it usually is too insignificant to have any real value.
I have often heard parents say, “Well, I give my seven-year-old an allowance of $5 per week and she saves $2 and has $3 as her spending money.” While this is better than doing nothing at all, the amount given to your child has no real meaning in today’s valuation. Kids need to be paid in direct proportion to your income and lifestyle in order for it to have real meaning. To learn what money can really do, they need to consistently follow a money management system that is not part of a one account, “piggy bank mentality” of money. The purpose is to teach kids to be good money managers … not spenders or savers.
How is the KidsWealth Money Kit different than other financial management programs for children?
I’ve personally checked out all the financial management kits, books, websites, and software available for kids. I couldn’t find any one single program that included all the key financial principles that kids need to know, while at the same time being fun, easy to use, portable, and durable. When you buy the KidsWealth Money Kit you are getting the best possible financial management teaching tool for children.
Don’t today’s kids already have a lot to focus on?
Between school, homework, and extra activities such as soccer, dance, swimming, tennis, and football – yes, kids do have a lot of things going on. While sports and lessons such as piano or ballet are important, they take hours of specific training, coaching, camps and practices. Since money is a part of everything we do, teaching your kids about money can easily be incorporated into your current family lifestyle. Money can even be made a part of these extra activities for the sake of learning. Remember, kids will have absolutely no choice but to use money throughout the rest of their lives.
Why do I need to buy your fancy kit? Can’t my child just use five paper envelopes?
Besides the “stuff” that comes in the Money Kit you are also getting access to a proven system for teaching financial success to children. We’ve done incredible amounts of research and real kid-testing to create the best possible product. You’d have to spend thousands of hours and thousands of dollars to try and out do us on your own. Even if you are the ultimate “dollar stretcher” we think $39.95 is an incredible value for what your child will actually get out of the program.
